Zealous for God

“If you’re hungry, you eat!” was what Pastor Patrick shared during the Saturday night session of our CCM Conference 2022: Zeal. The 3 days and 2 nights long conference kicked off with over 220 people who came on Friday night with eagerness.

The aim of this year’s conference was a call to action to reach and disciple the lost, to inspire and challenge young adults and university students to live out their faith. Each session delved deeper into what it looks like to live life for God zealously. In the first session, “Zealous Worship”, Adam Lew led us to prepare our hearts for the weekend. God moved powerfully through the prayer session.

On Saturday, Pastor Patrick touched on God’s zeal for His people and our response as we answered the call of God for the lost. We wrapped up the sessions with a powerful word by Jason Chia, UniGen pastoral leader, on seeking God’s vision for us right here, right now, in each of the three main universities, University of Queensland (UQ), Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and Griffith University (GU). We have an assignment given by God (2 Cor 10:13-17) to adopt the campuses (Jer 12:11).

On top of the sessions, there were a variety of workshops relevant to different stages of life, namely,

  • Investing in the next generations
  • Making good career choices
  • Building healthy friendships and community
  • How to excel as a student – Study smart, not hard!
  • Who am I? Finding identity in voices

We had time for fun and games on Saturday afternoon. We’ve heard testimonies on how God had moved that weekend. We witnessed and celebrated 21 lives publicly declaring their faith through water baptisms on Sunday morning. This year’s conference was a blessed and fruitful time filled with friendships being formed, decisions for Christ being made and zealous responses to the call of God.
