In October 2021, a Peruvian Christian couple, German and Cecilia, together with our local pastor Oscar Collantes, started a new virtual group with 10 women from Piura.
Piura is a main city in the northern coast of Peru and unfortunately, it is also well known because its people are involved in witchcraft and have problems with alcohol.
Most of this group of women are single mothers, widows or divorced women who suffered violence in their own families. They come from a Catholic background and they agreed to spend time with us to listen to God’s Word, to pray together and praise our Lord together in virtual meetings.
At the end of November, most of this group of women made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. So now, there are new believers outside of Lima church. A trip from Lima to Piura by bus is about 20 hours. This group of women raised funds to buy and deliver 50 toys and snacks in partnership with us to bless 50 poor children in a shanty town around Lima. This is their thanksgiving response to God and experiencing a sense of belonging in our church.
This coming summer 2022, part of this group of women are coming to Lima to visit some relatives, to have fellowship with us and to join us in some of our Sunday services in Lima.
Praise our Lord! He is extending His Kingdom in Peru!
