Seasons of Breakthrough

We all remember how fun and exciting church camps can be. The laughter, the food, the games even, it all creates wonderful memories for us. Memories that draw a smile on our faces as we reminisce. That said, one of the best things about church camps is the refreshed experience as we experience a breakthrough as we get closer to God and our brothers and sisters in Christ.

This is what two communities in our HIM family experienced last October. From the 12th to the 14th of October, Hope Tokyo held their annual church camp with the theme “A New Season”. Set in the serene city of Nikko, around 40 participants gathered to experience breakthroughs in every area of their lives. The camp was filled with wonderful family time, fun fellowship, and praise and worship, in addition to a spiritual feast as guest speakers Ps Denis and Ps Hia Eng, as well as Ps Kwong Lie and Ps Swee Min shared their hearts with the camp participants.

For many, the camp was a profound baptism of love, bringing overwhelming encouragement and freedom to our hearts. Tears flowed freely as burdens were released, and it was heartwarming to see brothers and sisters covering one another in prayer. The moments of activation were especially impactful. Many were amazed to discover how God could speak in such ordinary yet extraordinary ways. The special workshop sessions were deeply encouraging and inspiring, offering practical and spiritual insights. Abundant testimonies shared throughout the camp reminded them of God’s faithfulness and His desire to abide in us. It was a powerful time of encountering His presence and being renewed in His love.

But the breakthrough did not stop there in Nikko, for on the same days our brothers and sisters in Thailand had their 2024 Southern (Thailand) Revival Camp. With the theme “A Strong Foundation Church”, around 300 participants gathered at HIM Hatyai from across the southern regions of Thailand, including Chumphon, Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phuket, Surat Thani, Satun, Phatthalung, Songkhla, and Pattani.

The atmosphere was filled with joy and a profound sense of renewal in the presence of God. The camp featured impactful teachings and revival sermons that inspired life changes and deeper commitments to the church. This year, the Word of God was powerfully delivered through Senior Pastor Chaiyapruk Phiwruengnon, Executive Pastor Tammarak Tiangtum of HIM Hatyai Church, and the HIM Southern (Thailand) Churches leadership team. A new post-teaching reflection program was introduced, equipping participants with tools and practical guidance for self-evaluation and assessing their small group fellowships. The worship sessions were especially moving, as participants experienced the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit. A special performance by a string ensemble, as well as heartfelt testimonies from our brothers and sisters, reminded us of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

As amazing as that is, a strong foundation for a church is only as strong as the people. And what better way to strengthen the people than to invest in the kids who joined this camp! The Kids Camp was equally vibrant, with around 80 children participating. The children’s worship team led powerful worship sessions, culminating in a revival worship night conducted by the Ablaze worship team. The kids enjoyed activities such as sightseeing at the Prince of Songkhla University Museum, a Batik painting workshop, and the Kid Shine Party, which showcased the children’s talents.

Hearing these wonderful reports from our HIM Family around the globe serves as a reminder for us to continue seeking for a breakthrough in our lives. We are all in different seasons of life, but the one thing that unites us all is the continued desire we have to seek God and build our foundation in Him.
