Generation H, Next in Faithfulness

Hope Philippines Church celebrated its 27th anniversary on Sunday, September 8, with a day of worship, teaching, and fellowship, reflecting on God’s enduring faithfulness. The celebration featured two services: a morning service with an English sermon by Senior Pastor Denis Lu from Hope Kuching and Hope International Ministries (HIM) Elder, and an afternoon service with Tagalog interpretation by Miguel Sancho. A total of 536 attendees, including 91 Hope Kids, gathered to praise God.

The Lord’s presence was evident as believers lifted their voices in joyful praise. A special video presentation took the congregation through the church’s history, highlighting God’s faithfulness over the years. The church also magnified God for His mighty work in various mission spots and outreaches that He has established throughout the year.

Senior Pastor Denis Lu delivered a sermon focused on three key lessons. He emphasized the concept of becoming “Generation H” – a “Hope Generation” with Jesus Christ as the ultimate hope. He shared how trusting in God’s Word helped him overcome his identity struggles, reminding believers that in Christ, they are made new and free from condemnation.

He also stressed the importance of placing our hope in Christ alone. Pastor Hai Eng, wife of Pastor Denis, shared a powerful testimony about a family crisis involving a serious accident. Despite initial fears of paralysis, the family prayed and trusted God. When the x-ray results came back, they revealed no spinal cord fracture, showcasing the power of hope in Christ. Finally, Pastor Denis highlighted the importance of passing this hope to future generations. He shared personal stories of how he instills hope in his family, explaining the practices that have strengthened his son and others around them.

The celebration concluded with the congregation singing “We Belong to This Family.” Pastor Soradej and Achie Eunice Meesaengtham expressed their gratitude to Pastor Denis and Sister Hai Eng for their faithful service. The day ended with a fellowship lunch, fostering a sense of community and connection among members.
