Hope Brisbane recently hosted the Oceania Convention (OC23) at Unidus Community Centre. Over 600 attendees came from all over Australia, New Zealand and also online, to worship and hear God’s word together. ‘THRIVE’ was the theme of this year’s Oceania Convention which took place over 3 days. OC23 started with an energetic dance item, followed by acknowledging the leaders of various Hope Churches around Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
Ps Benny Ho from Faith Community Church in Perth and Ps Wayne Alcorn from Hope Centre Brisbane were guest speakers for the main program. HIM President, Ps Wilson Lim also shared God’s word and Ps Lance Wolter led Missions Night which is traditionally held on the final night. Running concurrently was the Hope Kids Conference with Dan Warlow as the guest speaker. The youth session had James Schleusener of Collective Church Brisbane and Chris Bee speaking.
There were two breakout sessions, each with multiple options of different, relevant topics for today’s world. Notable speakers for the breakout sessions include Chris Brohier of Australian Christian Lobby, Dan Korocz of C3 SYD and Alex Cook among others. Some breakout sessions were also live-streamed for online attendees.
Testimonies of God’s goodness were shared and many people came up front requesting prayer. There were multiple people who gave their life to Christ during the Convention, including 17 children! All participants were given opportunities to catch up with old friends and make new friends over the many meal and snack times, while enjoying the sunny Brisbane climate.
Praise God for the good things He has done at Oceania Convention 2023, and may we all THRIVE in our respective lives for God!
