It’s the most wonderful time of the year, a significant holiday season to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior. Hope Chicago church expressed the attitude of the scripture in John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
The theme of our celebration is “Amazing love”.
On December 11th, 2022, the festivities started off with worship as the Christmas choir sang joyous songs of praise. Following the carols, “Amazing Grace” was performed on the double bass by a young music student named Daniel who currently attends Roosevelt University. The skit team performed “Set Me Free” which compelled the hearts and emotions of the audience. The story talks about a woman who was trapped in chains, self-delusions, and destruction despite failed attempts to find a way out. Her cry for help did not go unheard as Christ brought breakthroughs in ways she did not fully comprehend. Porntavee, a new graduate from University of Illinois at Chicago, followed the skit team by performing “Amazing Love” and “Rest in the Lord” using a Thai musical instrument (dulcimer). Our church also gave a special offering to support Thailand Bible Society (TBS).
A highlight before preaching began with Tony who gave a life transforming testimony. He shared how God restored him through the conviction of the Holy Spirit after backsliding from God for over ten years. His testimony touched the audience. In addition, Pastor David shared the message about the gift of Christmas which is Jesus himself. As a result, three people accepted Jesus Christ!
Our festivities continued in the afternoon in the cafeteria and that included a catered lunch. The beautiful decoration of the red blood balloons formed into a heart. Inside it, there was the nativity scene. The decoration represented Jesus’ birth, death, and his amazing love to us. The program began with children’s performances who were skillful and talented. Next, an announcement of the adult dance song called “it’s Christmas “. Three men in black danced for Jesus which made the crowd cheer heavily. It was a sudden lit up atmosphere of celebration. Ruffles and presents giveaways to the guests and children. It was a day of celebration which was filled with great joy, love, and laughter. Thanks to our Savior Jesus and His amazing love.
