HIM Thailand Camp 2017

All the Thai churches under Hope International Ministries gathered for their annual national camp. Though the event is usually held at the Light of Chiang Mai Church in Chiang Mai, this year it was held at the campus of Chiang Mai University where delegates from all over Thailand gathered from April 28 – May 1, 2017

The theme of the four-day camp was “Building Strong,” based on the story of Nehemiah. Among the speakers were: H.I.M. President Simon Eng, Pastor Chaiyapruck Piwruangnont, Pastor Chuchart Chaisombat, Pastor Kobchai C, Pastor Yongyut W, Pastor Prakich T and Pastor James Loke.

While the camp’s lessons focused on leadership, there was a new addition to the camp schedule for the delegates: team building activities. The various activities involved a “Nehemiah” relay, where the teams are given a task to build a wall using materials they have accumulated from completing challenges. While the adults enjoyed the worship and teaching sessions, the children were busy participating in their own camp. Under the collaborative efforts of H.I.M. Bangkok churches and our H.I.M. provincial churches, the children learned about salvation, prayer, and missions, and participated in several performing arts workshops. More than 200 children were in attendance and many accepted salvation at the camp.

This camp is strong evidence of how H.I.M. churches all over Thailand want to build a strong and lasting legacy for the coming generations. Written by Bethany Lois Montalbano, HIM Oasis Bangkok
